New Marriott-branded hotel in Pompano Beach avoids hurricane damage

MCR opened its 112-room Residence Inn by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Pompano Beach Central – just in time to welcome Hurricane Irma.

The $21 million extended-stay hotel is at 2880 Center Port Circle in Pompano Beach, between the Sample Road and Copans Road exits of Interstate 95, opened in late August. It has one- and two-bedroom suites with full kitchens and residential-sized appliances.

The company said the hotel did not suffer damage from Hurricane Irma.

The hotel has a 24-hour food and beverage market, dry cleaning services, a business center, a pool, an exercise room, and meeting space. Linda Markert, the general manager of the new hotel, said the local market continues to benefit from very strong year-round business and leisure travel.

“This property represents the first ground-up Marriott hotel to open in northern Broward County in 15 years,” said Tyler Morse, CEO and managing partner of MCR, which has offices in New York and Dallas. “We appreciate the support Marriott has provided MCR throughout the development, and look forward to welcoming the community of Pompano Beach and North Broward to our beautiful new hotel.”

MCR has invested in and developed 94 hotels with 10 brands. The firm is also planning a Marriott-branded hotel in Oakland Park.

“We are pleased with the continued growth of Residence Inn hotels in the Pompano Beach area,” said Diane Mayer, VP and global brand manager for Residence Inn. “When on the road for an extended period, our guests need space to spread out, maintain their life’s pace and restore their energy to help them maintain a healthy balance and routine while traveling. Residence Inn Pompano Beach Central offers them a seamless blend of modern style and functionality that allows them to settle in and thrive.”
