The Harbor NYC restaurant will break ground along the Intracoastal Waterway in Pompano Beach on Nov. 8 as the first phase of a project by Canada-based Group Tsatas.

The Laval, Quebec-based company, led by Steve Tsatas, is both the developer and the restaurant operator. The group is best known in South Florida for opening Madisons New York Grill & Bar in Boca Raton in 2013.

Its Harbor Promenade project in Pompano Beach will go on the 2.2-acre site at 3200 E. Atlantic Blvd. and 101 S. Riverside Drive, which is on the east side of the Intracoastal Waterway and south of the bridge leading to the beach.

The first phase will be a 10,000-square-foot restaurant for Harbor NYC with 150 indoor seats and 350 outdoor seats. It will have a quick-action retractable awning to shield diners from bad weather. The restaurant will have 209 linear feet along a dock, which will have space for 10 boats.

The Harbor NYC restaurant should open in fall 2018. Its upscale menu will include prime beef, chicken, seafood, burgers, salads, spinach dip, steak egg rolls, coconut shrimp and sliders.

Verdex Construction is the general contractor. South East Architects designed the project.

“We are thrilled to enter Pompano Beach and become a mainstay waterfront entertainment experience in Broward County,” Tsatas said. “We look forward to providing those in South Florida with the opportunity to frequent our complex and an opportunity to host special occasions with us.”

The second phase of Harbor Promenade will have a second restaurant plus 7,500 square feet of retail space. No tenants have been announced yet for the second phase. The developer plans to open it in fall 2019.
